Week 7 was a fun-filled week with a variety of events going on throughout Crestwood and throughout the week.  It all began on Monday with two, week long events, Foam Party and Rollerblading, that were huge hits.  Everyone of all ages had a super, sudsy time bouncing around during our very own Foam Party, while the first and second graders got a special treat from the people at Skate Safe.

Skate_Safe_2.jpegThe staff from Skate Safe came to Crestwood to give a rollerblading clinic to our first and second graders, teaching them the finer points of rollerblading.  It was a big hit with the kids as they not only learned how to properly skate, but also how to safely fall.  Each group session was well staffed with 8-10 instructors from Skate Safe, giving each group a 2-1 ratio of kids to instructional staff.  With the kids having such a blast, some may want to continue learning how to skate.  Skate Safe is offering a discount to Crestwood campers on their first session with Skate Safe.  If your child is interested, click here for more information, or just visit their website and contact either Anthony Flynn or Mike Dominguez for more details.

Also during Week 7, the Hopis and Mohawks enjoyed an incredible and exciting overnight trip to Hershey, while the kindergartners, Chippewas and Cherokees enjoyed making some really hip, cool tie-dye shirts.

On Tuesday, the remaining kindergartners and pre-school groups finally got the opportunity to ride their own little ponies.  On Wednesday, Crestwood honored its founder, Norman Schnittman, by hold its annual Crazy Hat Day, where campers came to Crestwood donned in many different kinds of crazy and silly hats.

Willy_WOnka.jpegWeek 7 also brought Broadway to the Crestwood stage as the kids put on two incredible Willy Wonka shows.  Both shows not only drew a full crowd to the Crestwood Amphitheater, but also two loud standing ovations.  While the Willy Wonka Shows were beautifully done and performed, the highlight of the week was most definitely held on Friday afternoon.

The second, fourth and sixth graders kicked off our second set of Talent Shows with amazing dances and vocal performances. The show culminated with our annual Mohawks verse Hopis talent show dance off.  This year both groups took a different route than normal, adding singing to their performances.  While the contest was close, the Hopis pulled out the victory with a rendition of the Wobble dance.  And just when everyone thought the show had come to an end, Crestwood was invaded by some scurvy pirates and magical wizards, kicking off our 2nd Annual Crestwood Games.

CG_Break_1.pngAfter the Pirates and Wizards made their recruiting ploys to the campers, the general and captains for both the Green Pirates and White Wizards were introduced.  As the children learned which team they were appointed to, the leaders from the Green and White teams performed some cheers and chants.  The kids were in a frenzy as they headed home, excited for the games to begin on Monday.  Yet, while the younger kids headed home, the 3rd and 4th graders stayed behind for Late Night, and continued to enjoy all that Crestwood has to offer.  With much excitement, the kids began to enjoy an early start to the Crestwood Games, by competing in some Green vs White activities.  All in all, Week 7 was a gigantic hit.
